12 Weeks: Story Time!

1/12/15

Our little plum has made it to the 3 month mark! In just a few weeks I will be past the first trimester (woohoo!). I can't wait! I've heard the second is easier, so here is hoping.

The nausea has started to subside a little, it comes in waves now instead of all day all night. I am starting to get a little of my energy back too, which is nice. I have been blessed that I haven't needed to miss work and that I have a job where I don't go in early in the morning. The number on the scale hasn't creeped up yet but I know it's coming. I am definitely beginning to see and feel the excess...fluff? T-minus 28 weeks people.

Story time!

We told Garrett's family over Christmas, but this is my first time writing since then so I need to tell the story. So Garrett's sister Sheree is on an LDS mission in Argentina. She was scheduled to skype in to talk to the family on Christmas Eve after which we would do a family dinner. Neither of us wanted to do a big announcement so we decided to go down to his parents house early to tell his mom and dad, then as family asked the news would trickle down the grape vine. Should be pretty uneventful.
Well, we didn't get their soon enough because much of the family was already at their house. We never found the right moment to tell his parents before we were to talk to Sister Benson. We decided to wait for a better time because we didn't want to distract from Sister Benson's call.
So there we are, Garrett's whole family (a total of 9 kids --minus 1 or 2-- and their families) were gathered in the sitting room around a laptop chatting away when out of the blue Sister Benson says, "Okay I just have a question, is Kember pregnant?".  Silence.
I'm sure my face turned bright red. I was pretty stunned and surprised at how overwhelmed I was. Lots of emotions came to the surface and for some reason I was suddenly really choked up and didn't say anything because I was afraid I was going to cry haha. Garrett spoke up and said "Well, we hadn't told anyone yet but yes she's about 9 weeks along".  Everyone was excited and luckily the conversation moved on quickly, which I was grateful for. And that's how his whole family found out.  The End.
