16 Weeks: My Apology to Pregnant Women Everywhere

1/10/15

This week I am 4 months along. It's crazy how fast time goes! So I can no longer wear most of my normal pants. I'm still waiting to look like I'm actually pregnant.

Now that I'm into the second trimester (woohoo!) I'm finding it comes with a whole new set of symptoms. I am happy that my nausea has diminished significantly. It still comes in waves, but usually only once or twice a day now. I had my second prenatal appointment at 14 weeks and actually got to hear the heartbeat! Baby is doing well, heart beating at 150 BMP.

I'm feeling some round ligament and lower back pain now, which is uncomfortable and makes sleeping difficult. I'm teaching a dance class this Thursday and it will be interesting to see how it goes. I'm not used to moving this new body around.

I have (reluctantly) started to workout again. I have to put this out there, this is my formal and sincere apology to every single pregnant mommy out there I ever judged for not working out. I believe that exercising is so important during pregnancy, unless otherwise recommended by your doctor, but holy crap is it hard! At least for me. I didn't realize how hard it can be to find the motivation to exercise when you just don't feel good. The first three months I was so sick that I spent most of my time on the couch when I wasn't at work, so I didn't have an exercise routine. Lately, with Garrett's encouragement I've been doing 1-2x/week.  I'm starting slow now, just working in some gentle cardio as I get used to moving my body again.

Garrett has been so wonderful throughout these past few months. While I have been trying not to be too grumpy when I don't feel good, it can get difficult not to complain. He has been such a rock of support for me, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate his encouraging words. The back rubs are extremely helpful as well. Husbands, I know it can be rough sometimes so I want you to know that your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated!
